I have been sitting on writing this one, as this topic feels so close to my heart.
The main reason for me to do the work I do is this. Befriending our own bodies. I see it time and time again how bad our relationship can be with it. It’s easy to forget, but it is our most important, closest friend, that’ll be by our side for a lifetime.
We tend to think we know better when it should be tired, how we should be feeding it, moving it, working with it. We want to change its shape, energy levels, speed, voice, smell, feelings, colour, posture. We are told to ‘detox’ it, push it to its limits, try to mould it into a certain shape. We need it to preform and look a certain way to prove its ‘worth’ and when that doesn’t happen, we feel like it’s working against us. We feel disappointed and accumulate even more hard feelings against it.
